With the high tides in the morning making an outgoing tide all day long fishing the flats early is the key to success. Search for the signs of life on the flats and if not seen hit another one and another. Once you see the bait schooling you're in the right area. As the tide starts moving out and the fish come out of the mangroves start looking for them to follow the bait fish. If you see big wakes behind the schools of bait throw your bait ahead of them and hold on. As the tide really gets moving off the flats that should be your best times. Pin up by a nice hole and as the tide goes out the fish wanting to stick around are going to stay in these pockets unless they're spooked out. The last trip I took with a couple friends we had schools of reds going up and down the flats. We ended up between 3 anglers 10 Overlsots and 2 in slots in about two hours. All were released to catch another day. Don't chase them so hard that they spook and don't regroup or your redfish extravaganza will be over. The bait of choice was anything live or cut and we ran out of cut and live bait after a 6 hour trip.
