94% success rate in Cabo, lots of tuna and grand slam chances

Overall Catch Success Rate 94% BILLFISH: This week was really good for marlin, 72% of the boats caught at least one of them. The best catch of the week as of marlin was on July 30th, Tracy Ann released five striped marlin, landed one Dorado and one yellow fin tuna for Mike & Anna Babmeaux, and Todd & Sterling McIntosh from Houston TX. Ruthless did really good on July 31st releasing four striped marlin and landed also one tuna and one Dorado for Bob Gremick & Neil A. Reed from Murfreesboro TN. Rebecca was only one fish away for a Grand Slam on August 6th, anglers Aaron & Carrie Alford from Houston TX and Dough Barthils from Greenbay WI released one blue marlin, one striped marlin and a sailfish, they were wishing for the black marlin to show up, unfortunately it was a bit early on the season. A total of 56 striped marlin, 8 sailfish and 2 blues were caught, only one striped marlin was killed. OTHER SPECIES: Even though the percentage of tuna versus marlin this week was smaller (64% versus 74%) the quantities were much better on the tuna. The boat with most tuna catches this week was the Tracy Ann on July 31st with 19 of them between 12 to 20 lbs caught on Jaime Banks using cedar plugs for anglers Ron Vargas, Al Marklin and Jack Mochel from Redwood City CA, second place goes to La Brisa on August 2nd with 18 tunas and one dorado caught outside the Golden Gate for Daniel Jones from Lake Charles LA. Only 40% of the boats came back with dorado and most of the catches were one or two per boat. Inshore fishing was good for Rooster fish, amberjack and Spanish mackerel. WEATHER CONDITIONS: Finally got some rain last night, for maybe an hour, although by 7 am there was no evidence of it, its hot, people, HOT, 100.5F LOCATION: 95 spot, Golden Gate and Jaime Banks AVERAGE WATER TEMP: 85 F BEST LURES: Live Bait, cedar plugs, red/green.
