Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Lake Eufaula

The constant change in the weather is making it hard for the bass to know which end is up. The cold front that came through last night has put the fish back in deeper water again. The water is clearing up some and will make it better for the deep water presentations necessary to take the bass now. Slow motion is the name of the game. Look for the structure near deep water and use a big jig and pig or other types of deep baits. The action will be exciting in about four more weeks. March is always hot here and if the weather warms up a little it will be even better. Last March the Everstart Tournament broke all Eufaula records when the pre-spawn began and the cold front pushed them back out again. Look for a similar pattern if this weather continues. The Crappie started to move in early last week as the un-seasonably warm weather had them thinking it is time to spawn. The biggest fish were taken on leadges near the shallow grass flats. Hal flies and spinning jigs were good baits. The night fishermen are still doing well with minnows under the bridges. Dress warm and have a great time on the water. Keep your ears open for information on the upcoming Lee King Benifit Buddy Tournament on June 8 on Lake Eufaula, Alabama. This is to provide research funds for the Niemann Pick Disease Foundation.
