Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Lake Eufaula

Bass fishing has taken a turn for the better as the water has dropped just enough to bring the morning bite in shallow water to the outer edge of the cover. The finesse bait is the key along with the new Kinami Bug. Throw the bait behind the cover and work it ont and let it drop on the outer edge. The bass will follow it and pick it up in deeper water if they don't blow up on it in the thick cover. A fast retreive will pull the bait away from the fish, you will see a strink as you remove the bait from the water. The ledge fishing is picking up as the fish have moved to the deeper water in the mouths of the creeks. We were placing the boat in 35 to 40 feet of water and throwing a Carolina rigged Lizard or finesse bait into 12 feet and bouncing it down the ledge. Crappie are really staging now and the catches are really good. Minnows and jigs are doing the trick. Catfish are always good for a relaxing day on the water. Cut bait, livers or worms work well. The river cats are so good when cooked fresh. Please check out www.leekingbenefit.org and see how you can help with our fight to find a cure for this terrible Niemann-Pick Disease. For a $100.00 tax deductable donation you can have a chance at a beautiful fully rigged Stratos 285 Pro XL powered by a Mercury 150XR6. 'Till next report; God Bless & Good Fishn' Capt. Sam
