Bass have been tough to locate and catch. The continual rains have muddied up the river and creeks so bad, you can’t see a white marshmallow one inch under water. The cold weather has kept the water temperature down as well. You can catch the bass on the shallows on a warmer morning if you are lucky. Big finesse baits or something noise will do the trick. Most of the bass are holding in 10 to 20 feet on the ledges. You will need to work on them with big slow baits. They are still in the cold weather stage and act very lazy. We have several tournaments coming soon. The pros will find things very different this year and are coming a few weeks earlier. It looks like the spawn will be confused again as the cold weather is staying around longer. A few warm days are forecast with more cold to follow. Before this last rainy spell, the creeks down river were beginning to clear up. The upper ends of the northern creeks were also starting to look goon. Now it will all have to start over. Crappies are even hard to find with all the mud. The ones that are being caught are coming from deeper water on jigs. Cats are doing as usual if you can stay out in the cold rain. We are distributing the tournament applications for the Lee King Benefit Buddy tournament. All the stores in the Eufaula area will have them by the first of the week. You can download them from www.leekingbenefit.org or call me at 334 687 6266 or 334 355 5057 cell and we will mail you one.
