Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Lake Eufaula

The lake level is 187.99 and is supposed to come up slightly this week. Water temperature is in the mid to upper 50's. Color is stained. The bass are trying to bed, the cold snaps are continuing to confuse them at this time. The shallow bass are coming on spinner baits as well as jigs and finesse baits. The deeper bass are still in 10 to 20 feet, mostly holding around 12 feet. Carolina rigs are working consistently, while jigs and spinner baits bounced like a Texas rig are doing well. Kinami's Flash and Nories bug are the best soft plastics and the Mann's new FLW chunk are good on the Carolina rig and Jig trailer. The new "V" blade Ledge Buster Spinner bait is really awesome in the stained water. Seems to make a different vibration that attracts the bass. Crappie are starting to come in and are still best at night under the causeways. Minnows and jigs are the trick. Bream are still a little ways off as the cold weather has them holding back. The cat fish are active in this dirty water. It is still a good way to relax and enjoy the water on a slow day. A later start will allow the air temp to come up and make for a great day. Be sure and visit www.leekingbenefit.org and register for the Stratos Boat and Mercury motor drawing. The tournament application is also on the site. Both are tax deductible and will help us fund research for the National Niemann-Pick Disease Foundation. This is a terminal disease with no formal funding other than these efforts for the families.
