Alabama Fishing Report for Lake Eufaula

Lake Eufaula

The hot "dog days" of summer are here for sure. The heat factor is 100+ by mid-morning on the water. The bass are feeding early, just at first light 'till the sun gets up in the sky. The fish are holding close to deep water. Locate a creek or shallow shoal near the main river and watch the birds and the bait fish. The Bass and hybrids have been keeping this bait pushed up in these areas and when they begin to feed the top water action is awsome. Walking baits and fineese baits work well. If they stay up very long, a crank bait or rattle trap run under them will produce the bigger ones. Work a jig or carolina rig on the ledge 'till you see the bait come up. The crappie are still hitting minnows early and late. The "old troopers" who have developed a "honey hole" are doing very good. Catfish are still regular for those who like a fresh fish fry. Worms, cut bait and dead minnows are working very well. Be aware of the afternoon storms and take plenty of fresh water to deal with the heat. Be safe and enjoy God's great outdoors. 'Till next time, God Bless & Good Fishn'
