{%image_id=45652%}Mitchell Lake Fishing Report for Wednesday, October 28 2015 Fishing With Reed Montgomery of Reeds Guide Service Website www.fishingalabama.com Impounded 1923 Lake level Full Pool Water Temperature 70 Degrees Air Temperature 70 degrees Partly Cloudy A couple of anglers came down to Alabama for a few days of bass fishing, to sample the waters of the lower Coosa River System on Mitchell Lake. The Coosa River breed of spotted bass were biting all day and most were in less than 5 feet of lightly colored water from recent rains, seen the last 2-3 days earlier this week. As the month of November rolls around water temperatures and air temps will slowly fall into the 60 degree range during the day and cooler nights with air temps of upper 40's will take place as early winter slowly creeps in. But there are still may weeks of excellent bass fishing to be had on all of Alabama's lakes for the remainder of the year! Like other lower Coosa River Lakes (Jordan Lake and Lay Lake), Mitchell lake is full of aquatic weeds, loads of wood and rock cover and these three lower Coosa River System lakes stay at or near full pool year round! Spinnerbaits and chatterbaits fooled a lot of bass this week due to off-colored water clairity. Mid-to-lower lake regions stayed mostly clear. Current is evident lake wide each day as water generation schedules show constant water generation daily. Call 1-800-lakes-11 for water generation schedules and current lake levels. Other lures fished in and around the many weed types are very weedless models like frogs and buzz baits, weightless lures like worms and shad imitations, Texas rigged worms and swimming a black and blue half ounce jig combo or all white colors. To cover water fast and help you find the more "anxious bass bite" try using shallow to deep diving crankbaits, spinnerbaits, suspending jerk baits and lipless lures!
