Goodnews River Fishing Report from Spotted Tail 8/29/10 Goodnews River has dropped to more normal levels, although it's still a little high. The water is nice and clear! Fishing for silvers has been consistently excellent with both salmon streamers and wogs, and spinning lures such as a Pixie or Mepps spinner. One of my favorite lures for silvers is a 1/4 or 3/8 ounce leadhead jig with a three or four inch curly tail. Pink, orange, or chartreuse produce consistently. Gabe Nyblad said he had the best day of beading trout he's ever had last week, fishing behind spawning pinks. I had several trips that got some big dollies, over 24 inches, measured. So fishing in general has been excellent. Some photos of two of our guests fishing on a rare sunny day here last week are posted on my website at http://www.spottedtail.com/ThisWeeksFishingReport.htm Wednesday I leave here and will get home Thursday afternoon. The trip is grueling but as I've made clear in past weeks I miss my wife and family and am looking forward to getting home. Hopefully some readers will come and fish with me this fall! Embrace simplicity. Life is great! I still love my work, lucky me! Life is short- go fishing! John Kumiski www.spottedtail.com
