Anna Maria Fishing Charters - Sept. 2, 2012 Fishing

Anna Maria

The shallow grass is holding numerous schools of redfish. We had the best action around Joe's Island and Port Manatee. Live shiners were the best bait and gold spoons were the artificial choice. A good scattering of nice snook in the 30 inch range were mixed in along the same shorelines. Plenty of large trout were in the potholes around the mouth of Bishops harbor. The Skyway bridge had some mangrove snapper near all structure. Lots of nice sized spanish mackerel were feasting on the bait schools near the bridge. Jack crevalle were also in the mix. Grouper fishing and all bottom fishing should get back to normal after the high winds and silted water. Best reports were beyond 70 feet for red and gag grouper. Flounder fishing picked up around the areas hard bottom. Best bait was small weighted pinfish. We look forward to kingfish to start their migration near our area this month. Tom Chaya
