April Inshore Fishing

St. Simons Island

Today I had Steve and Heath from Atlanta on the boat. Weather was great, water is getting clean and warming up to around 70 degrees. We started out fishing back in the rivers and right off the bat we picked up a few redfish, trout and sheep head. All of those fish were caught in 7-10ft of water on structure using live shrimp under a popping cork and they were sitting pretty close to the bottom. After staying back in the river for a while we had heard reports of a few triple tail being seen off the beach of Jekyll island so we decided to go out and look for them. Once off the beach we found a rip that had some pretty clean water on one side so we stopped there and started looking. A few minutes into it we saw a couple really nice triple tail but could not get close enough to cast on them before they went down. We stayed out front another hour or so seeing a few more triple tail but they were kinda hard to see due to the sun going in and out of the clouds. We had a good day overall beautiful weather and the bite is getting better every day. For more reports go to www.reelstokedfishing.com
