Rain, Roosters and Cinco de Mayo EAST CAPE, BAJA CALIFORNIA, MEXICO Sat., May 05, 2001 TEMPERATURES: High of 82 with a low of 64. Flat calm, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain on Thurs. STRIPED MARLIN - Still a long run, but more and more are showing up in the counts each day. YELLOWFIN TUNA - Good catches for all the hotels yesterday (5/4). DORADO - Still not a gathering, but good-sized fish out in open water. ROOSTERFISH - Some quality fish in front of La Ribera. JACK CREVALLE - Larger fish from the boats fishing inshore and smaller ones from the beach. BARRILLETE OR MEXICAN SKIPJACK - A few scattered here and there. PARGO AND CABRILLA -Punta Colorada has been hard to beat this week. .. OFFSHORE: Blue water is still a crap shoot, but improving each day. .. INSHORE: It is good, good, good for almost every species. .. BEACH: Right now the opportunity to get multiple shots at quality roosters is as good as it gets. .. QUICK COMMENT - Danny and Luanna Foster, Anchorage, Alaska, have spent the last few days trying to get a rooster from the beach and have caught everything but Including pargo, ladyfish, and needlefish. Mary Fedorka, Telluride, Colo., continued her winning streak with a nice rooster from the pontoon boat. Fair skies with strong wind in the afternoon TUNA – None. YELLOWTAIL - South side of the entrada inside the entrance. CORVINA - Santa Margarita Island is producing good catches. SNOOK - Several fish at Mario's spot. HALIBUT - At the sand dunes. .. QUICK COMMENT - If you had a chartreuse Baja Deep Diver, you would have had a good day for both yellowtail and corvina near Santa Margarita Island.
