The speckled sea trout bite is the best without a doubt that we have had in years. After a couple of killer cold winters, our trout have rebounded at an incredible pace. I have been targeting trout on almost every trip now for better than a month. Fifty plus fish days are being reported consistently. Our state regs require a legal length minimum of 14 inches, and we are seeing fish of all year classes showing up. Many are still under the 14 inch size, but catches of 18 inch fish and bigger are not unusual. They are being caught on all kinds of soft plastics, and live bait always produces. My favorite soft plastic is the Norton Sand Eel Jr fished on a quarter ounce jig head. Hard to beat. Pearl, smoke and green colors all seem to produce.
