Boca Grande and Charlotte Harbor

Boca Grande

Great weather a great king fishing. 11-13-03 The winds finally blew me back to the beach. The kingfish have kept us busy this last week. A few cobia and tripletail are showing up to. It’s been hard to stay on the fish as they move around following the baitfish. So we just go looking for food and then start trolling. King Busters and skirts have been much hotter than no flash rigs. Bright colors seem to really help when it’s overcast. I always try some different colors and plain. Big greenbacks are the bait for now. Fish have been from 10 – 30 pounds and very strong. When you hook into a twenty plus fish the name smoker becomes very clear, line literally screams off your reel. We stumbled into some big reds last week. Saw a nice school of tarpon today, southward bound. Inside fishing remains good. Snook are hot in good weather. Baitfish are still plentiful. Trout are closed and reds still pick up the slack. Life is great and I may even take a few days off when the winds start to blow for a few days. Captain Van Hubbard.
