Redfish for Thanksgiving. 11-24-03 Looks like redfish for Thanksgiving. We found some snook today but the reds bite so good the snook could not get to the baits. Bob and Clair Johnson from Houston, Tx. Wanted a relaxing day fishing and got interrupted but a school of hungry reds. We laughed as they ripped line from our reels. It was tough and most were to big, 27 – 29 inches. We finally landed one small enough for lunch and retired to the Tiki Bar for a very fresh redfish meal. We did manage one small trout to mix in the action. The seas were calm as we started out. We looked for kings outside but found medium baitfish and headed inside to try them. As the tide shifted in the winds picked up and we could cast our minnows a mile on the 14 pound FireLine, with the popping corks. The Daiichi, circle hooks are sweet; no deep hooked fish. All but one, lunch, released healthy to grow and fight again. So far the cold weather is teasing and holding just North of us. The baitfish were thick and I knew we could get some fish going if the birds would let us chum. It took some doing but we finally got a good bite. Then another and the action lasted until the anglers had enough. Life is great when you can leave the big ones biting. We looked around for some pompano but no luck today. It’s busy this week and then turkey day and off to try some hunting for a few days. Please find time to share with your family and friends during the Holidays. It’s challenging to find time to get these out but I enjoy your feed back . Happy Thanksgiving, Captain Van Hubbard
