Fine fishing but it just gets better. 2-6-04. Things will change soon; fishing is just fine but not like it will be next month. Our fishing around Englewood and Charlotte Harbor is fine. We have some nice trout, sheepshead, reds, and plenty of whiting and a few small pompano. You even have a shot at some snook but things are just about to get exciting. It’s been warming fast, yes we have a cold front coming thru but it will not last. It’s hard for me to get excited about fishing because I’m so spoiled by the stronger bull reds, and snook. I’ll be posting more info as fishing Springs into life next month. We do have some exciting bird watching right now. The eagles and osprey are nesting and abundant. Huge white pelicans are everywhere. Herons and egrets meet my boat as I come home waiting for us to start getting those white baits. Don’t worry guys the cast net is in the boat and we are watching every day. We expect to see baitfish and mackerel by the end of this month. For now it’s just gone to the beautiful birds.
