Fishing is fine. Our fishing is improving and it’s nice on the water now. We have had our share of challenges this year. The good news is we have been teased and not torn up. The hurricanes seem to have blown the red tide off but cooler weather has made minnows had to find. Some nice pompano are cruising the beaches. They are not thick, but sufficient to catch a mess for dinner. We have only needed to measure a few; most are two pounds and some even bigger. Spanish mackerel and ladyfish are showing in the afternoons. The baitfish are down because of the cool nights so I can not tell just how many macks are here yet. The birds are looking hard too. Kings must be around but it’s been to windy to look for them. Snook are here but slowed down right now by the chill. They will be hungry later this week as it warms back up. Water temps in the Harbor dropped into the mid-sixties. The Gulf is into the low seventies. Redfish are ready and willing. Pinfish and shrimp are best baits now and lures are excellent if you are into them. Soft plastics are hard to beat. This is short and sweet. We have good weather and quality fish; Let’s Go Fishin’ NOW! Captain Van Hubbard
