Boca Grande

Merry Christmas... 12-20-05 Merry Christmas, slip some fishing in to the Holidays. Weather has been challenging the last few days but we did slip a ½ day in yesterday. The tide was low so we found a few reds and sheepshead on a deep edge. They bite pretty well before the tide change but slowed down as the flow stopped. We saw lots of beautiful white pelicans flying south in neat “V” formations. The shore birds were very active on the bare flats. I was expecting a better bite as the tide turned back in but the rain started backup and we came in early. Bud Rutland and Bob Bussy enjoyed the time, sharing old fishing and hunting stories in between bites. They ended up with 3 fat sheepshead that weighted at least 10 pound together. They pulled drag like reds. Bud landed several reds including a perfect 27-inch dandy for dinner. Bob added a 23-inch red for their limits. We released several smaller reds. I had been seeing a permit but no bites from them today. Please enjoy the Holidays and be safe. Spend some quality time with your family and friends. Merry Christmas. Captain Van Hubbard.
