Happy New Years, 2007. Happy New Years; the fish are waiting for you. We are enjoying a very mild Winter, so far, and the fish are ready and waiting. Of course the mild days are our best bests for fish and comfort. We had to work thru rain yesterday for a few pompano and trout. The pompano have been very co-operative for a week or two. We even had a couple of limit catches, 6 each. Trout should pick up now that the season is open and we will be looking for them instead of trying to stay away. We do not target trout when they are closed as they are so delicate; it’s nice to have trout back for cool water action. I’m guessing the big full moon has those pompano moving around but we’ll get back on them any day. Sheepshead are looking better every time it cools off. They will provide bent rods and tasty meals for the next two months. We had several reports of king mackerel off shore last week but the winds have kept me from hunting them. Some tripletail and maybe a cobia are due anytime. This is a wonderful time to be on the water because the white pelicans and migrating birds are all over for us to watch also. Don’t wait until winter finds us; Let’s Go Fishin’ soon. Captain Van Hubbard
