Boca Grande, Florida Fishing Report

Boca Grande

Winter Arrived Winter finally made it and it was cold, with temps into the thirties for two days and highs only in the fifties things might turn normal. Most of the schooled up redfish should have headed for deeper water and the trout may get into more of a pattern. Baitfish should have done the same and headed for a comfort zone. Hopefully we will see more normal weather patterns for the rest of winter. Grouper fishing has been great offshore as well as snapper and the cold weather we had will only help to improve the bite. Near shore reefs and wrecks are holding decent fish try drifting with bait on bottom until you hook up. Once you get the bite throw a marker and keep making the drift. You will be surprised at the amount of fish living off the wreck but in close proximity. For the past few weeks I have fished in other areas of the state so my flats report is pretty short. I did manage to fish in the lower Peace River one day last week and found some decent redfish. I haven’t been to these spots for over five years but the fish where in the same spot. So record keeping looking for a pattern certainly pays off and is well worth the time. Good Things Come To Those With Bait Capt Andy Boyette 1-888-880-0006
