Almost Summer Tarpon fishing has been picking up in the area but the large numbers have still not arrived. With cold fronts still affecting the area fishing tarpon can be difficult with timing a critical issue. I expect this will soon pass and the large numbers will make there way north. King fishing close to shore has been on fire with good numbers of fish up to the 30lb range the 60’ depth and water temp 69-72 ideal. Lots of Amberjack on the reefs in the 85-100’ depth eating what ever goes on the end of line. Redfish are in good numbers in the Turtle Bay a Bull Bay area; expect to see a lot of boats still on the flats with numerous tournaments in the area. Snook season closes at the end of the month so it will be catch and release only for a few months. Seatrout are still low in numbers in the area with the catch either small or large. Cobia and sharks are in the harbor. Fishing should only improve from here and the summer should be a good season for fishing with so many options you can fill the summer with plenty of catching.
