The weather this January has been just gorgeous with the exception of a few cold days. That is always a good thing this time of year because it means more days on the water and fewer days sitting at the house. I've been staying very busy this January and I seem to be getting more and more calls for future dates. It looks like I'm going to have a good 2011 and I appreciate all of your business. {%image_id=18901%} Since trout season opened on January 1st the Trout fishing has been phenomenal with a lot of 50 plus fish days getting a nice limit of fish to take home dinner has been relatively easy. Most of the trout are between 14" to 18" but I've been catching quit a few "Gator" trout over 24". {%image_id=18900%} The redfish have been pretty cooperative this January as well with a lot of nice keeper reds and a ton rats ( reds under the 18" min), which is good thing since those are the fish we will be catching in the future. The reds are staying in small groups of 10-20 fish but they should start to get into larger groups as we get into February. The mixed bag has been pretty interesting, consisting mostly of pompano, flounder and sheephead. Especially flounder, this January has been one of the best months I can remember for catching flounder. I'm actually able to target them and I've been catching quit a few while fishing for trout and reds. I've had some days that we have caught a dozen or more which is pretty good for Charlotte Harbor.
