Capt. Scott Fishers report. 4-28-15 My trip started out @ 5:30 AM when I met at a local tackle shop for some live Tarpon crabs. Once I had 2 dozen crabs in the boat I set off to Placida boat ramp, met by an 11mph wind and 50% chance of rain I knew it was going to be a tough trip. Our journey to the beautiful beaches of Boca Grande was a bit choppy for my 24ft Proline bay boat but we managed to reach the fishing grounds by 6:15 AM. With the first school of Tarpon spotted shortly after arriving, my clients we grinning ear to ear anxious for a chance to hook a silver king. With the conditions, we had made it tough to stay in front of the school of tarpon, but all of a sudden with the perfect cast a 150lb, Tarpon emerged from the rough beach waters 6 feet in the air showing us his beautiful and lengthy body. This particular fish fought for 30 minutes before with one more amazing acrobatic jump he spit the hook at us. After a bit of frustration we managed to hook one more fish which was brought boat side after a surprisingly 20 minutes fight. This fish weighed in close to 90lbs and 5 ½ feet long. But the day was not over yet, we were met with a white wall of rain that decided not to stop for hours so we got a little wet.
