PISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT DECEMBER 1st TO 7TH 2006 OVERALL CATCH SUCCESS RATE FOR ALL SPECIES COMBINED 92% BILLFISH: This week started excellent for billfish, most of the boats keep going to the Golden Gate to find Striped Marlin and Dorado occasionally catching a couple of yellow fin tuna and a lost squid. On December 1st we had a one-day mini tournament for a group from Mexico City and the winner was the Tracy Ann releasing 6 Striped Marlin for Eric Lindner and Luis Felipe Diaz Cantu, both first timers. That same day, again the highlight of the week, Ni Modo released 10 Striped Marlin for Mark Lux and Mike Dolan from Texas. On the 2nd Ni Modo released 4 Striped Marlin for Doug Meyers, Rob Rosenthal, and Jeff Novak. C-Rod also released 4 Stripers for Eric Wessengarber and Rob Rosenthal from Castle Rock, Colorado. Another highlight is El Gallo releasing 7 Striped Marlin on December 3rd for Jim Daley, next was Yahoo with 5 releases for Jim Peters, Don Dinally and Jay Peters from California, and Rebecca with 5 stripers and 2 Dorados for Gary Allison and friends. Here we had a slight decrease on the marlin catch rate with only 7 or 8 catches for a couple of days, thankfully we close the week with multiple catches on December 7th, with Valerie releasing 3 striped marlin for Amy Toner, Adriana with another 3 for Dennis Carroll. This week a total of 129 marlin were caught and only 5 got landed giving us a success rate of 75%. OTHER SPECIES: Tough week for small game with only 46% of the boats catching Dorado and 11% catching Tuna. Average size between 15 to 30lbs on both species, however, C-Rod managed to catch 8 Yellow fin and 2 Dorados, and Ruthless caught a really nice dinner with 9 Dorados for the Greg Tapp party. Inshore fishing was mostly for Roosterfish, grouper and small Dorado. LOCATION: Golden Gate again was the hot spot with a couple of catches on the Sea of Cortez by San Jose. WEATHER CONDITIONS: Clear sky starting the week; with a bit of cold in the morning, so for you guys to come next week, don’t forget your windbreakers or a light jacket. Seas were mostly calmed in the morning with a bit of long swells on the way back. AVERAGE WATER TEMP: 77 F BEST LURES: Live bait. Based on the catches of Pisces by Jorge Narro in Tracy’s absence.
