PISCES SPORTFISHING WEEKLY FISH REPORT JUNE 8TH THROUGH JUNE 14TH, 2007 OVERALL SUCCESS RATE: 66.6 % BILLFISH: A rather slow week this period, with just 45% of the charters coming back with marlin. However this wasn’t so bad, when you take into consideration that our overall catch success rate for all species combined was 66.6%. Fish moved around a lot this week changing from day to day, ranging from 35 miles up in the Sea of Cortes, Destiladeras, to 5 miles out on the Pacific, making them hard to locate. Even when they appeared to be hiding, our captains still achieved some really good catches, like Ni Modo on June 8th, releasing 2 Striped Marlin and 2 tunas and landing a very nice Wahoo for Jay W. Ramsey from Pinterest, Fl and Sundancer, landing a 200 lbs Striped Marlin for Michael D. Smith. On June 9th, Ni Modo released 3 stripers for Bill Ramsey from Pikeville, KY, Fish Cabo released one striped marlin and two Hammerhead’s for James Fuller from San Antonio, TX. Following up on June 13th, Cabolero released one Sailfish, one Striped Marlin, a Mako shark and kept a 40lbs Dorado for Ben Heidrich from Woodside, Ca; a pretty impressive mixed bag. Boat of the week was Sundancer, catching an approximately 200 lbs Swordfish on live bait at the 95 spot for Clint Hughey from Santa Cruz, CA. A total of 40 billfish were caught and 34 were released. OTHER SPECIES: Small game fishing was a bit better than billfish this week, we had sierras, yellowfin, dorado, red snapper, makos, hammerheads, yellowtail, and a couple of amber jacks. On June 11th, Rebecca landed 13 sierrita or Spanish mackerel and 2 yellowtails between 10 – 15 lbs for Daniel Giecheski, on the 12th, Bill Collector caught a very tasty dinner for Mr. Bryan McGowan with 5 Red snapper between 20 – 25lbs. Very few Dorado and yellowfin were caught this week. WATER TEMPERATURE: 72 – 74 F LOCATION: Destiladeras, Punta Gorda, Migriño, Chileno Bay, Los Frailes, Old lighthouse. BEST LURE: Live bait Based on the catches of Pisces Fleet, by Jorge Narro in Tracy’s absence.
