PISCES WEEKLY FISH REPORT JULY 13th to 19th, 2007-07-23 BILLFISH: This week we again saw excellent fishing in Cabo, resulting in an overall catch success rate of eighty eight percent. The majority of the catches were striped marlin, with some boats releasing up to six in a day, whilst other averaged one or two, nevertheless marlin wasn’t the only game in town, we saw a big improvement on dorado catches too. Catches were all over the place this week, starting out on the Pacific off of Land’s End and the Old Lighthouse, then gradually moving into the Cortez to the 95 and 11.50 spots, with the week closing at Punta Gorda and Destiladeres. On July 13th we had several boats with triple marlin days such as Rebecca, C Rod, Ni Modo and actually four for “Andrea” for Julio Manzanarez and party from Spain. Next day out “Ni Modo” equaled the score this time off of the Old Lighthouse for Italian anglers Siliva Sama and Gianmaria Peñasco, with four fish released. “C Rod” had an enviable day on the 17th, with a mixed bag of two striped marlin released, ten yellowfin tuna and two dorado for Stan Orman from Dallas,Texas. Overall seventy five percent of charters hooked up and released marlin. Boat of the week though, had to be “Ni Modo” with six striped marlin released for Vince Bass from Newman , Georgia on July 18th at La Laguna. Pisces anglers caught a total of 88 striped marlin this week all were released. OTHER SPECIES: After marlin, dorado were the most frequently caught fish, with thirty seven percent of charters finding fish in the 20 lb class. Catches were usually whilst trolling for marlin, with catches of between one and three fish per boat. There were some tuna catches, but we only ended up with a catch rate of nine percent. Catches were usually two to three fish with the exception being C Rod as mentioned above. Not much else happening on smaller game except a few small mako sharks and jack crevalle. LOCATION: Old Lighthouse, Land’s End, 95 spot, 11.50 spot, Punta Gorda, Destiladeres. WEATHER: Sunny, seas calm, though some chop on the Pacific on windy days, much cooler than usual.
