Chokoloskee Report 11/15/12

Chokoloskee

I just had out Lee Weiss from Ft Lauderdale and his Two friends Nick and Per from Sweden. After a few throws of the cast net we were headed into the back country to see who was hungry for some live Pilchards. We fished just the incoming tide and the water temperature was 70 degrees. Wind was brisk from the east at 18-20 mph so we ducked in on the west side of the mangroves. Within short order we hooked up to a mess of fantastic Snook. Nick caught the largest at 36" with ultra light spin gear and 10lb test braid. Lee caught a respectful 30" Snook, and another 10 were between 20"-26". The Spotted Sea Trout made a fantastic appearance and at least 40 were boated. Just a dozen were above slot and the rest were cloned 14-3/4" fish. The bite was strong with one on just about every cast for a while. Nick also caught the largest Trout of the day which measured 25". We later fished for Sheepshead and got a few until the tide went slack.
