Cobia Season is almost upon us in the Lowcountry

Beaufort

Cobia season in the Lowcountry is a heralded event. Port Royal and St Helena Sounds are unique in that we have an awesome inshore Cobia fishery. The fish arrive in force when our water temps reach the 68 degree number. Many years this coincides with a full moon and the fish ride the big tides into the sounds and the Broad River. Our moon tide is the last week of April this year, and our water temps are currently around 66 degrees. It should be on in the next two weeks. Our trout bite has continually improved, with lots of reports of big roe trout showing up in the deep creeks and oyster points. Redfish are their same old finicky selves this time of year, but certainly available
