Our water temperatures have really dropped the last month. With one cold front we got clear down to the lower 50's, but it warmed back up to upper 50's this past week. And the bite has been hot. The Speckled Trout have really taken off. They are schooled really well now, and once you find them you can really work them over. I caught 30 out of one school yesterday, all on a Norton Sand Eel Jr, but lots of different soft plastics will work well this time of year. Fish them on a 1/4 ounce jighead bouncing them off the bottom. The fish were in 6 feet of water yesterday, in the current line. And the Redfish are biting really well on the lower tides. Had a great afternoon Friday scouting with another guide friend of mine, Capt Chris Mattson. We put it on them pretty good, and the biggest was a 30 and 1/2 incher that weighed 10 and a half pounds. I caught him on the Norton also. It's a great time to fish the Lowcountry, as everything is on that final push to fatten up for the winter slow down.
