Costa Rica Marlin Bite

Tamarindo

The JR Ball group fished a half day on the 36' Topaz today. They started off inshore and caught a nice wahoo right off the bat. After catching a few bait fish, they hooked a black skipjack on a ballyhoo with a circle hook. As they were reeling in the skippy, a 300 lb. blue wolfed it and the fight was on. An hour and a few miles later they finally released the marlin (on a 30 lb. outfit). They started trolling back inshore and after a while, the same thing happened: hooked a skipjack, marlin ate the skipjack, they caught the marlin. So, not your normal half day trip here: wahoo and 2 blue marlin.
