Despite the cold and blowing conditions the bite continues to be consistant. The trout bite over the grass flats in 2.5-3 feet of water remained good. Shrimp under a popping cork seemed to work best. Find the grass and set up your drift, this will allow you to cover more area and find the fish. Anglers will also pick up ladyfish, jacks, and catfish with this method. Sheepshead are still plentiful and will take shrimp tipped jig heads throw up along the floating docks and mangroves islands. They have also been hanging around oyster bars on high tides. Use the same set-up for them here too. The redfish bite was slow, but is starting to pick up on high water afternoons around the mangrove islands. Anglers can use ¼ ox jig heads tipped with shrimp for them. The key when the air and water temp's are low is to be patient and let the shrimp scent work for you. Work a spot really well before moving on. The nearshore reef provided some good action of sheepshead and snapper with some quality Spanish mackerel mixed in. Jigging shrimp tipped jig heads just off the bottom was the go-to method of attacking them.
