This past week offered anglers variety in the backbay. There were redfish around the oyster bars and were taking shrimp tipped jig heads or shrimp under floats. Sheepshead and snapper were found here as well and just as hungry for jig heads tipped with shrimp. The flats in 3-5 feet of water provided spotted seatrout, ladyfish, jacks, and eve a few sharks with good old shrimp under a popping cork the best set-up. There were even a few pompano caught this past week on the flats near oyster bars. Bouncing jig heads with shrimp seemed to work best.
