The fishing this past week in and around Estero Bay provided anglers with plenty of options. The redfish are starting to school up and patience is the key. Cut bait, free lined pinfish, or even shrimp on jig heads will work fine. Oyster bars and mangrove islands on high water seemed to be the best locations to find and catch these great fighters. Chum the area and give the scent a chance to work and attract them to you. There have been snook on the floating docks and free lined whitebaits are the ticket. Spotted seatrout are all over the grass flats and shrimp under popping corks will catch all you want. Cleaner water in the 3-5 feet are holding them along with ladyfish and jacks. This is also a great opportunity to throw artificial's like Rapala skitterwalks and soft plastic baits like flukes and gulp shrimp. The passes are loaded with jacks, ladyfish, silver trout, and the occasional pompano. Bouncing shrimp tipped jig heads will work best.
