This past week there were plenty of options for anglers fishing in and around Estero Bay. The nearshore reefs are holding sheepshead in big numbers and there are some really big females pushing 6 lbs. Shrimp tipped jig heads will work best for them. Anchor near the structured bottom and start fishing. You will have to weed out the smaller males, but patience will produce some large ones. The backbay waters provided sheepshead, snapper, seatrout, ladyfish, jacks, and even a few redfish. The seatrout are working the grass flats in 2-5 feet of water. Shrimp under popping corks or paddle tail grubs bounced along the bottom seemed to be the set-up. Anglers will also pick up plenty of ladyfish which can be used for cut bait for the reds. The redfish seem to be around the oyster bars and mangroves on higher water. Cut bait caught more than shrimp on jigs but not a bad idea to give them options. {%image_id=52145%}{%image_id=52146%}
