There are some options for anglers this past week in and around Estero Bay. The shallow water bite is starting to heat up as the bait is starting to show up and the fish are chewing. The redfish are hanging around their summer spots and are willing to take free-lined white baits around the oyster bars and mangrove shorelines. The bite seems to be better on higher water and chumming will increase your chances. There are also plenty of seatrout on the grass flats in 3-5 feet of water. Shrimp under popping corks will work best. Snapper are everywhere along structure and shrimp seems to be their bait of choice. The passes are holding good variety for anglers. Bouncing shrimp tipped jig heads will produce seatrout, ladyfish, sharks, and even a few pompano.
