Everglades National Park - Flamingo

Flamingo

The fishing out of Flamingo remains pretty darn good. Yesterday, for the second trip in a row one of my anglers caught and released a grand slam.... The primary pattern is still, find the baitfish, and most of the predators will be somewhere nearby. We fished with bait and lures during the day and caught snook, redfish, trout, tarpon and a variety of other species. The small white baits of August have turned into the 4 to 5" pilchards working along shorelines from Cape Sable northwards to Lostman’s. The gag grouper are also still in evidence, we caught and released one of about 22" at a river mouth. Although we didn't encounter any large tarpon in the areas we fished other guides working out of Chokoloskee reported lots of big fish west and south of Lostman's. As good as the fishing is now we still don't have enough anglers. If you can spare a day off this is one of the best times to fish the 'Glades, particularly along the west coast... Tight Lines
