Fantastic Fall Fishing is Here!

St. Simons Island

It's finally here! It's the time of year when anglers all across the Peach State break out their speckled trout rigs and head to the coast for those great eating specks. Weather it is bouncing a jig across the bottom, or letting that cork slide into your favorite hole with a frisky shrimp, there is nothing quite like filling a cooler with these fine eating filets. For the past two weeks the trout bite has been outstanding and only stands to get better. The bull redfish are congregating on the beach from Savannah to St. Mary's and will eagerly take crab, mullet, pogies or cut bait. For those of you who like to throw artificials, this may be the best time of the year to trick a trout. Our last artificial trip yielded over 25 fish. Our lures that day were mullet imitating lip divers and DOA shrimp. While most of our catch was made up of chunky trout, were we also rewarded with flounder and redfish as well. The Golden Isles will be one of the best bets to grab a limit (15 trout-must be over 13") of seatrout on the entire East Coast for the next eight weeks.{%image_id=22957%}{%image_id=21471%}
