Inshore/nearshore report I thought the cold weather was done and then we get hit with a record cold snap with temperatures in the 30's. Hopefully, that was old man winter's last gasp. Today the water temperature was 62.5 degrees; down from the 70's of last week. The spanish mackerel,larger blues, and even a few jacks have arrived. The speckled trout are larger and more plentiful than last month and are hitting sueface and diving plugs as well as live bait. Sheephead continue to bite well. Reds are at the jetties,in the creeks and ICW. The first schools of pogies have not arrived yet. When they do, the spring dinner bell will have officially rung! The cobia will be escorting them and the migrating manta rays. The surf fishing has picked up also with some pompano being caught along with whiting, drum, and bluefish.
