Fernandina to Saint Augustine & St. Johns River

Jacksonville

Inshore/nearshore report NE Florida The water temperature is finally going down, and was 76 degrees today. Also, the red tide seems to have abated some, and I haven't seen any dead fish lately. The fishing remains good, with the large bull reds providing top action. Slot and rat reds are in the creeks and ICW. There is a hot flounder bite going on right now in the Mayport area. The jacks and blues are schooling under birds in the river. Large Virginia croakers are in the river from the Dames Point bridge to the jetties. Some have weighed up to three lbs. Black drum are eating shrimp fished on the bottom. Speckled trout will hit top water plugs fished early and late during higher tide phases. You can also take them with the traditional slip cork rig. Tight lines! CAPT Bob
