Fernandina to Saint Augustine & St. Johns River

Jacksonville

Inshore/nearshore report Jacksonville area waters Dropping water temperatures have fired up the fish. Speckled trout are plentiful and cooperative. They will hit live bait or artificials. They like for their quarry to try and escape, ie., keep a lively bait pinned to your hook! Sheephead have moved in and are providing lots of action at area jetties. Good size bluefish often crash the party when mullet or mud minnows are used. A fantastic croaker bite is tapering off after a month of non-stop action. Many of these fish were in the two lb. range. Flounder continue to be a favorite target for local anglers. Several double digit doormats have been caught recently. There is no finer table fare from our waters. There are good size whiting in the surf, along with a few pompano. Black drum can be caught on shrimp, clams, and crab. Redfish of all sizes are available throughout our area creeks, the ICW, and the jetties. Good fishing! CAPT Bob Cosby
