The fishing this past week in and around Estero Bay has been great. The nearshore bite has produced daily catches of pompano, ladyfish, trout, snapper, grouper, sharks, and spanish mackerel. Shrimp on a jig head or weighted circkle hook will work fine. Use cut bait for grouper and sharks. The backbay bite has been really good for snook and redfish. Using free lined threadfin herrings around the docks and mangroves will work great for snook. Shrimp on a jig head will work for redfish around the oyster bars and mangroves. Look for pockets in the mangroves and cast as far back as you can. they are hanging out there staying out of the sunlight.
