Fishing Report

Cape Coral

We finished out the week catching 11 different Gulf species including, Flounder, Mackerel, Gray Snapper, BIG Speckled Sea trout, Pompano and 8 sharks in the 4 to 5-foot range. Using a Gamakatsu 7/0 circle hook and a Mustad De-Hooker makes for an easy release scenario. They are Big Fighters. I'm always very careful with each one of them when I release them. The bigger ones look like wither Atlantic Sharp-nose or Fine-tooth sharks to me along with Bonnet heads and 2 nice Sand Bar sharks. We are still working the grass flat edges where the structure starts to dive from 4.5'/ 5' to deeper channel waters. Using a 4' leader under a popping cork, ¼ oz. jig on 30 mono leaders baited with a live shrimp usually render great results. MONSTER POMPANO on the main channel sandbar. Friday, we killed it with multiple big Pompano catches. We usually catch and release, but these guys were invited home to dinner by my clients. Cooler water from the low 80's to the mid 70's means the cobia will soon be moving on the next leg of their migration and that means big catches and great eating. If you aren't catching 50 to 80 fish per day, try a Tide Walker Charters teaching charter. Till next tide, Enjoy the Magic of Florida Fishing.
