Fishing Report for New York - Long Island North Shore

Long Island

The ski season may be starting but there is still time to catch lots of fish in New York On the freshwater scene the Long Island Basmasters held the last tournament of the season on Blydenburg Lake. Eric Feildstadt and Brendan Cuddinello came from fourth place in the winter series to win the tournament and the series. IS it really November 17? There are still lots of big blues on the North Shore. I have had them at Eatons Neck, 11B and Buoy 15. Some on the fly but most of the bass are deep with a jig. If you chase the birds, you get blues. Find a school on your fishfinder and they are bass down deep. Gene Haines and Emory Butts have been doing well with some keeper bass in Cold Spring Harbor. Jim DelGrosso has been doing a job on the Bass from the surf at Montauk. Don’t quit yet! The larger bass have to move through the Sound on there way up the Hudson. At this rate, Christmas will be a great day to fish.
