Fishing Report for New York - Long Island North Shore

Long Island

Long Island Heats Up Long Island is heating up! In the Huntington and Cold Spring Harbor areas you can find blues, bass and some fluke. Chunk or troll in the triangle. Cast in the shore structure. Sean Conlon ran a beautiful Fluke Tournament on Saturday June 18. It was to benefit the Cold Spring Harbor Fire Department. The weather, food, volunteers were great. The fluke failed to show up for most of us. Congtrats to the winners, especially young Zack Conlon. I have had no trouble finding and catching bass on the fly. Some big blues are under the bunker. A large bunker pattern on a full sink line is the key. Jim DelGrosso is continuing his wining ways with bass and blues in the back country of East Hampton. The Long Island Bassmasters Tournament season is going well. Generally it takes over 14 pounds of 5 bass to win. Brendan Cuccienello reported a hog of 6 poungds 9 ounces caught on one of the local lakes. He will be hard to beat for LIB’s, Mr. Bass.
