The Winter Fish Have Arrived The passing of several fronts has pushed a new array of species to the Flamingo area. Drum, sheepshead, bluefish, and pompano have been caught with some regularity. Snook fishing continues to be good like the red fishing. Plenty of jacks and ladyfish are also available just near the marina. The best day was a 50 plus fish day with Danielli Favalli and friend from Switzerland. As water temp. continues to drop expect a strong drum bite. This is also the time when cobia are often caught on their migration. Be sure to look for them on the good days. Whitewater Bay is becoming a very good place to fish during winter particularly because of the past hurricane season. The nutrient rich water will bring more snook into the fishery and is a known long-term effect. We may see this even earlier than expected. The freshie part of the glades has some very large bass. Raymond Sobrado and his son caught a 6 pounder in the open saw grass prairie. The guides are beginning to see some improvement in the charter business and we should be booking up steadily. Call ahead to reserve a spot. Capt. Ariel 305 552-9788 305 431-6936
