Panama City/N.W. Florida Finally some good news. Even though the fishing this winter has been relatively good the spring runs are just around the corner. We have been catching lot's of speckled trout in the steam plant canal and in some of the bayous. Live shrimp, DOA shrimp and 4 inch curly tail grubs seem to do well. There have been a few reds here and there, we boated a thirty pounder about a week ago on 12lb P-LIne. This should continue for another month or so not matter what happens with the weather. The forcast for the next week is strong south to south-east winds and mid 70 temps. These two combinations should bring the spanish and cobia close to the panhandle and begin the spring run. If this weather holds I believe it will be an early year and things should be hot by the middle of March. As soon as we can confirm that the spanish have showed up I will update the fishing report. Off-shore the fishing has been good with grouper and amberjack close in. In the store we once again have proven that we are ahead of every other store in town by bringing in some new products that you will not see anywhere else. One item is our cobia rods that are exclusive to our shop in this area, you have to see them to believe them. We have also started carrying beer and some really nice wines that you only find in specialty shops. By mid-March the "Galley" will be open and stocked with culinary delights such as She-crab Soup, Hot sauces and Dips. Stop by and see our latest edition to the shop. For the fly fisherman we have completely overhauled our fly sections offering the largest selection in flies and tying materials for hundreds of miles. Hope to see you in the shop soon, things are fixin' to bust out. JP
