Florida Fishing Report for Panama City & Destin

Panama City/NW Florida Warm days mean the trout are at the mouths of the bayous and creeks instead of in them. Live shrimp are good but you can still catch fish on artificial until the weather starts getting really cold. There are a lot of fish in Warren Bayou (hot water canal) and they are easy to catch. Live bait or grubs are good. Remember, all catch and release. I have some friends that tell me they are still getting good numbers of flounder around the pass, Crooked Island and just off shore on the shallow wrecks. There are also reports of whiting being caught along the beach and in some spots in the bay. DUCK HUNTING Ducks are still moving into the area and with a cold front blowing through just before Christmas, should bring in a lot of new birds. Seeing and taking a lot of redheads and bluebills out on the bay. Had a big flock of bluebills decoy on us this morning...what a shoot, just like the old days. There are more buffleheads out there than I can remember and we are seeing a lot of puddlers...some in salt but mostly up on the lakes. If we get some more cold weather it looks like we could have a great season. If you want a good duck hunt give me a call...I have "adjusted" the way I hunt. What I do is a little unusual but it works and puts a lot of ducks in the decoys. Give me a call to book your hunt. Hope you have a happy holidays, merry Christmas to all. Thank you to all the folks that made this a very successful year for me. Hope to see you next year. Capt. James Pic
