Jacks and Groupers

Yesterday was an awesome day on the water as the seas and wind were calm as opposed the the last few days of heavy wind. Current has been very strong as well. We started out with a bang when we came upon a large school of Jack Crevalle. If you have never fished for these reel spooling demon fish, you should give it a try. They are one of the toughest fish you will ever encounter on light tackle. We used top water lures. The hard part about fishing Jack Crevalle is just staying in front of them as they tend to move very fast. We got lucky and landed two with several break offs.{%image_id=53504%} Whole lot of fun on light tackle. Jacks like these can travel in schools of thousands and are almost always followed by sharks who feed on them and scraps the Jacks leave behind when they feed. After we left the school, we went southwest and dropped for some reef dwellers. We were targeting Red Grouper and Vermillion Snapper but landed this nice Gag instead.{%image_id=53503%} We ended up with a mixed bag of Vermillion and White Snapper to take home. All in all, it was a great day on the water. Good Luck and lines tight! Capt. Troy
