Went grouper fishing last tuesday just before the closing. We limited out on gags to fifteen pounds by ten in the morning. Almost every drop was a fish. Never made it to the number I was heading for After we had our limit of gags we started to fish for kingfish with flat lines and shiners. Lots of schoolies from eight to ten pounds with a few bigger fish as well. Inshore the fish are starting to head to the backcountry with every passing front. Protected water is the name of the game flats that are closer to canals and deeper water around the manatee river are starting to produce better. Snook reds and flounder are making up most of the catch.
