Redfish Schooling on New Moon

Redfish will be schooling around the new moon. Fish the mangroves and oyster bars on the higher tides. Variety of live baits work at this time of year. Gold spoons and soft plastic jigs provide a good artificial alternative. Snook have been active around the passes. Late evening and early morning have produced the best action. Small ladyfish and ballyhoo have been the preferred baits to catch the big one. Spanish mackerel have been prevalent around the bait schools over hard bottom. A few school sized kings have started to show also. Mangrove snapper are in good numbers around most structure and bridges. I have been using 12 pound leader with a number 6 hook to catch the wary ones. Flounder have been on the edges of the rocks and feeding on small grunts and sardines. On the calm days look for Tarpon rolling around the areas bridges. Tom Chaya {%image_id=34965%}{%image_id=34958%}
